Lesnar hasn't been seen since dropping Cena with an F5, and it appears he'll be absent from WWE TV for another month. He is advertised for two upcoming SmackDown shows, the first on September 12 at Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia.

Despite having few actual matches with each other, John Cena and Brock Lesnar have been synonymous with one another dating back to their time in Ohio Valley Wrestling.

At the 2025 SummerSlam PLE, the show went off the air with another signature Lesnar moment. After a two-year hiatus, Lesnar returned, delivering an F5 to Cena and leaving. Afterward, WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque implied that the return was done at Cena's request.
