The Kentucky Derby is the first big horse race of the season, with the winner tasked with trying to achieve the elusive Triple Crown. This year's Derby will also be notable because it's the first event in three years that will feature owner Bob Baffert.

Bob Baffert-trained horse Rodriguez was scratched from the 2025 Kentucky Derby due to a foot injury. Baffert revealed that Rodriguez "needed a few more days" to be ready to race and is still planning to enter the horse in The Preakness Stakes on May 17, per The Athletic.

The Kentucky Derby will start the 2025 competition for horse racing's Triple Crown with a field of 20 horses set to race in the annual Run for the Roses.
