Banned boxer Ryan Garcia says he is fighting in an exhibition bout in Japan in December, but his promoter says otherwise.

Victorville's Ryan Garcia, serving a one-year ban from boxing, will square off with a former kickboxing champion in an exhibition match in Japan on Dec. 30.

On Tuesday, Garcia was in Los Angeles for a special face-off with Japanese kickboxing sensation Rukiya Anpo — the man he plans on fighting at RIZIN 49: Decade inside the iconic Saitama Super Arena on December 31.

Oscar De La Hoya posted a statement on social media, saying that Ryan Garcia's scheduled eight-round exhibition on December 30th against Japanese kickboxer

"Golden Boy Promotions has exclusive rights to Ryan Garcia’s fights. The organizers of this event (Garcia vs. Anpo) have acknowledged as such and have agreed in writing that our sign-off is needed for this event to occur. As no such sign-off has been given, as of today there is no event with Ryan Garcia."
