President Donald Trump said Tuesday that Israel had “agreed to the necessary conditions” to finalize a ceasefire in Gaza, though it was not immediately clear whether Hamas would accept the terms.

Trump said Tuesday in a social media post that Qatar and Egypt have been working on the details and would deliver a final proposal to Hamas.

Israel’s military success in Iran has spurred hopes that the Jewish state might take more daring steps toward peace in Gaza.
