As the NBA season progresses past its first full month, the MVP race is already shaping up to be fierce. Following our previous rankings where Anthony Davis led the way in the season's first month, each contender has put their unique stamp on the season as of now and they are doing some spectacular things on the court (and on the stat sheet).

Nikola Jokic is cementing himself at the top of the NBA MVP rankings over Jayson Tatum and Anthony Davis with his historic triple-doubles.

Jayson Tatum is checking every MVP box so far. Since 2011, every MVP has gone to a player between the ages of 24 and 28 that made either First or Second Team All-NBA. That's Tatum. Every MVP since 2008 has averaged at least 25 points per game except for Stephen Curry in 2015,

Jokic is once again putting together an MVP-caliber season, leading the league in rebounds (13.7) and assists (11.7) while maintaining dominance on the offensive end. He ranks fourth in scoring, averaging 29.7 points per game on a remarkable 56.3 percent shooting from the field and a career-high 56.4 percent from beyond the arc.

After the first month of the NBA season, one player has emerged as a strong favorite: Nikola Jokic is still the best player in the world. The three-time MVP is having his best season ever, and he's setting the bar as high as it's been in recent memory for the other players trying to catch him.
