Manchester United's desperate Premier League campaign looks like reaching a lame and toothless conclusion as Ruben Amorim's Europa League finalists were deservedly beaten by West Ham at Old Trafford. Tomas Soucek and skipper Jarrod Bowen scored the goals for a team that had not won in its past eight league games.

United are now seven games without a win in the Premier League, the club’s longest winless run since November 1992. West Ham have become the sixth team to do the double over United this season, joining Wolverhampton Wanderers, Brighton & Hove Albion, Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest and Tottenham.

Nigh-on 18 long years had passed since West Ham United had last earned a Premier League victory at Manchester United. It was on 13 May 2007 that Carlos Tevez's goal sealed a 1-0 victory for Alan Curbishley's men at Old Trafford and completed the Great Escape from top-flight relegation.
