This year, the Perseid meteor shower will be active from Thursday, July 17 through Aug. 23. Here's what to know.

GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - Dust off the telescope and keep your eyes toward the sky; the Southern Delta Aquariids Meteor Shower will be active in the coming days and into the middle of August. It will be mostly visible during its peak toward the end of July as the rate of the meteor shower increases.

The first meteors from two showers — the Delta Aquariids and the Alpha Capricornids — began streaking across the sky on Sunday, July 13. The shows will get more intense during the second half of July, peaking on July 30.
