The cable news channel is getting a new name and dropping NBC's peacock logo as part of a spinoff from NBC Universal.
Part of its split from Comcast, MSNBC will be renamed to My Source News Opinion World (MS NOW) and will acquire a new logo as a result of this historic change of ownership
Changing its mind about keeping its name, the MSNBC news network said Monday it will become My Source News Opinion World, or MS NOW for short, as part of its corporate divorce from NBC.
The change, announced on Monday, comes as MSNBC has been building its own news division, as NBC News will no longer be a sister outlet following the spinoff. MSNBC and other Comcast cable networks will be part of a separate company, Versant, led by Mark Lazarus.

MSNBC Name Change Mercilessly Mocked as ‘One of the Worst Branding Disasters in Media History’
MSNBC changing its name to MS NOW is one of the worst branding disasters in media history. The logo looks like it belongs on a discount computer from 1998, not a serious news network. Absurd. pic.twitter.com/vjLAw6cOt5
MSNBC will soon be known as "My Source News Opinion World" as it exits Comcast's family into the newly created media company Versant.
The cable news network will adopt the new name MS NOW ahead of its spinoff from NBCUniversal.
Reactions rolled out on the news that MSNBC is getting a new name, MS NOW, and a new logo that drops the peacock symbolism.
