LOS ANGELES — Ahead of next month's ceremony, The Game Awards announced the nominees for Game of the Year and many other categories Monday afternoon. The Game Awards is an annual ceremony that has been honoring achievements in the video game industry since it was first established in 2014.

TGA’s voting jury is large and internationally diverse, and in the past its collective taste has tended to settle in a rather conservative place. But the industry’s lean year has led the jury to a suite of nominees that is varied, high-quality, and culturally rich.
