A group of protesters demonstrating near the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission broke through the police cordon and barged into the office premises in Agartala of India.

India on Monday described as "deeply regrettable" an incident of breach of the premises of Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala by a group of people protesting against the arrest of Hindu

Student leaders emphasised that the incident in Agartala violated the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, 1961, which protects the inviolability of diplomatic missions. They also criticised India's approach, noting that the Indian government has maintained relations with the Awami League, but not with the people of Bangladesh.

According to the BBC Bangla, the Bangladesh mission in Agartala was vandalised and the national flag was taken down. It added that a meeting of the Hindu Conflict Association against the arrest of Chinmoy Krishna was held outside the Assistant High Commission of Bangladesh in Agartala.
