The NHL ruled Ekblad threw a direct blow to Brandon Hagel’s head with an extended elbow, causing him to leave the game with an injury in the second period.

No penalty was called when Ekblad hit Hagel in the chin with his right elbow and forearm with just under nine minutes left in the second period on Monday night.

The Tampa Bay forward remains sidelined by Aaron Ekblad’s hit in Game 4. The Florida defenseman is suspended for two games.
