Boosted by higher household and government spending, Canada's economy grew 1 percent annually in the third quarter, while spending on machinery, including aircrafts slowed, and exports declined more than imports.

The Canadian GDP expanded by 0.3% from the earlier quarter in the three months to September of 2024, slowing from 0.5% expansions in the first two quarters of the year, in line with market expectations.

Despite gross domestic product (GDP) growth being lower-than-expected for the July-September quarter, the six-member Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) may not cut the policy repo rate in the review meeting scheduled for next week due to high inflation in October, according to experts.
