Sometimes the final nine of a PGA TOUR event can be a game of chicken, as professional golfers battle their emotions and the course while chasing the title.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — William Mouw rallied to win the ISCO Championship on Sunday for his first PGA Tour title, shooting a 9-under 61 and waiting nearly two hours to see if his 10-under 270 total would hold up.
The tour hasn’t held an event in Louisville in 66 years, when the Kentucky Derby Open ended a three-year run at Seneca Golf Course. Gary Player and Billy Casper, both eventual members of the World Golf Hall of Fame, left Louisville with a win. But it ended in 1959, and the tour hasn’t returned to town since.
