49ers' Demarcus Robinson faces three-game suspension for DUI violation, coach Kyle Shanahan says
San Francisco 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said receiver Demarcus Robinson is facing a three-game suspension to start the season for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. Shanahan said Wednesday on the team's flagship radio station KNBR that Robinson has been suspended pending an appeal after he pleaded no contest last month to a misdemeanor DUI charge.
Robinson signed a two-year, $9.5 million contract with the 49ers back in March after a two-year stint with the NFC West rival Los Angeles Rams. In his eight-year NFL career, which also included stops with the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens, Robinson has averaged 31 catches, 376 yards, and three touchdowns per season.
Coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed to KNBR today free agent signee Demarcus Robinson will be suspended for the first three games of the regular season. This suspension stems from an arrest last November in which Robinson was charged with misdemeanor DUI. California Highway Patrol officers observed him driving more than 100 mph in southern California.
49ers wide receiver Demarcus Robinson has been banned three games for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy, San Francisco coach Kyle Shanahan told KNBR-AM in San Francisco Wednesday. Robinson, 30, joined the 49ers on March 11 after spending two years with the Rams.
