Former Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia was selected to lead the Fort Worth Police Department's nearly 1,900 officers over Fort Worth Interim Police Chief Robert Alldredge Jr. and former Dallas Police Deputy Chief Vernon Hale, who most recently served as Prince George’s County Police Department assistant chief of police in Maryland.

Dallas’ former police chief is now the top cop in Fort Worth. “The 28th police chief for the Fort Worth Police Department will be Eddie Garcia,” Fort Worth City Manager Jesus “Jay” Chapa announced via a news release Thursday afternoon.

The Star-Telegram obtained the salaries of 144 Dallas-Fort Worth high school football coaches through open record requests throughout the summer. The average head coach in Dallas-Fort Worth makes $126,092.85. Forty-nine coaches make more than $130,000, while 16 make more than $140,000.
