State Sen. James Skoufis announces run for DNC chair

New York State Sen. James Skoufis (D) launched his run to chair the Democratic National Committee (DNC) on Saturday, in a bid to “rebuild” the party following widespread losses on Election Night earlier this month.

New York State Senator James Skoufis is running to become the next chair of the Democratic National Committee.

The Democratic National Committee announced on Monday that it will hold its chair’s election on Feb. 1, an early indicator of the party’s direction following Kamala Harris’ stinging loss this month. The contest will be held at the committee’s winter meeting at the National Harbor in Maryland that begins on Jan.

New York State Sen. James Skoufis became the latest candidate launching a bid to become the Democratic National Committee’s next chairman. During an announcement that positioned himself as an anti-establishment force who could shake up a reeling party that saw crushing losses at the White House,

"I've won on tough Trump turf three times. I've won when governors face red waves, all while bringing the democratic big tent together and never sacrificing our values," Skoufis said.
