The New York Giants became the first team eliminated from playoff contention with a 27-20 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day.

But there are some reasons to be optimistic, even as the season continues to crumble down around the Giants at an alarming pace.  We can start with the fact that the Cowboys, like the Giants, are winless at home this season.

After six seasons together, the Giants released Jones last week, following a 2-8 start to a season that no longer held any promise. Tommy DeVito was named the team's new starter, and Jones was relegated to end of the bench, even behind No. 2 quarterback Drew Lock.
