The New York Knicks are in the final stages of making Mike Brown their next head coach, and they have an ideal candidate for their top assistant job, too. According to Marc Stein, the Knicks have eyes for New Orleans Pelicans assistant James Borrego the right-hand man to Brown.

The New York Knicks have offered their coaching job to Mike Brown and are working to finalize a deal with the two-time NBA Coach of the Year.

Brown is being hired to replace Tom Thibodeaux, who was fired after the Knicks lost to the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference finals. He was chosen from a pool of candidates that featured former Memphis Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins, New Orleans Pelicans association head coach James Borrego and Minnesota Timberwolves assistant Micah Nori.
