Longtime Seattle Storm point guard Sue Bird, who already had her jersey retired and a street in Seattle named after her, had a statue erected in her honor outside Climage Pledge Arena on Sunday morning.

In a ceremony before Seattle hosted the Phoenix Mercury on Sunday, legendary former Storm guard Sue Bird, who led the franchise to four WNBA championships, became the first WNBA player honored with a statue outside a WNBA arena.

Sue Bird was immortalized in Seattle on Sunday during her official statue unveiling at Climate Pledge Arena. Bird is the first WNBA player honored with a statue.
