Aston Villa have confirmed winger Leon Bailey has joined Roma on a season-long loan deal with an option to buy. The 28-year-old will join up with the Serie A side who finished fifth in the league last season. Bailey has made 144 appearance for Villa since he signed for the club from Bayer Leverkusen in 2021.

Leon Bailey is said to have endured a nightmare start to life at Roma. The Aston Villa winger joined the Serie A club on loan on Wednesday, but it is understood he suffered an injury in his very first training session in Italy’s capital.

Martin: He has had his time at Villa. I found him to be frustrating at times when he had to try and beat a player two or three times before attempting to pass or cross a ball. Good player but I don't think he will be missed.
