Authorities in Louisiana have arrested a flight attendant after he allegedly slashed a co-worker’s neck and cut a security guard who tried to intervene. Police arrested Joshua Smith, 36, at a New Orleans, La., hotel around 3:15 a.m. local time Monday, Nov. 25, the local police department said in a release shared with PEOPLE.

A Delta flight attendant slashed a co-worker and hotel security guard after a late night and early morning of heavy, “blacked out” drinking, officials said Wednesday.

He was charged with attempted second degree murder, aggravated battery five counts of aggravated assault and four courts of simple battery.

Joshua S., a flight attendant for Delta Air Lines, was accused of stabbing a female coworker during a hotel fight in New Orleans, leading to charges of attempted second-degree murder. A hotel security guard was also harmed during the incident,
