Nearly a week after floodwaters swept away more than a hundred lives, Texas officials are facing heated questions over how much was – or was not – done in the early morning hours of Friday as a wall of water raced down the Guadalupe River.

The storms that battered the Hill Country for the last four days began to lighten up, although isolated pockets of heavy rain were still possible.

Texas officials and law enforcement briefed reporters Tuesday morning on flash flooding in the Lone Star State that has left more than 100 people dead. Heavy rain began hitting the Texas Hill Country — about an hour outside of San Antonio — last week.

Heavy storms and torrential rain wreaked havoc across central Texas beginning early on Friday (July 4), triggering catastrophic flooding and claiming the lives of over 100 people. Meanwhile, search and rescue teams are still looking for some who were swept away in the floods.
