Two weeks after Duo the Owl's demise, Duolingo's language learning app's mascot admitted that "faking my death was a test."

The owl mascot for Pittsburgh-based Duolingo is not dead after all, according to social media posts by the organization. At least two posts appeared on the company's social media accounts on Monday, declaring "Legends never die" and "Duo is back.

"Y'all really think i'd let a Cybertruck take me out?" the scrappy owl noted on social media.

Duolingo’s owl mascot, formally known as The Duolingo Owl, makes a surprise return Feb. 24, nearly two weeks after the language learning app shocked the world with the announcement of his “death.”

Duolingo recently announced the "death" of its mascot, Duo. After making several hints that the app's users could resurrect the owl, the event is now underway.
