An American Airlines flight from New York to New Delhi, India, landed safely in Rome on Sunday afternoon after it was diverted due to a security concern, which later proved to be “non-credible,” the airline said.

An airport spokesman says an American Airlines flight en route from New York to New Delhi has turned around over the Caspian Sea and landed in Rome.

Authorities said they received an emailed bomb threat concerning the flight; the threat was later determined to be unfounded.
