The government will make protesters involved in the Sambhal violence pay for damage to public property while posters of “stone pelters” will be displayed at public places, an official said on Wednesday.

To identify those involved in the incident, the police on Wednesday released posters featuring 45 suspects based on CCTV footage

Days after violence broke out in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal, killing four people and injuring several others, the police said protesters have been identified through video footage from drone cameras and CCTV footage from the area.

Previously, the Yogi Adityanath government had put up posters of protesters during the anti-CAA protests in 2020. These posters were displayed across several locations, including the state capital, but were later removed following a court order.

According to the autopsy, the injuries on the bodies of the four men were caused by bullets which did not belong to the ammunition used by the police

Sambhal Police have released images of individuals allegedly involved in the violence opposing the mosque survey on November 24.

The autopsy reports suggested that the wounds on bodies of the four men were from bullets not consistent with the ammunition used by UP Police.
