Update: Texas Tech closes campus ahead of spring break after fires, explosion
Texas Tech and Lubbock Fire Rescue officials were confirming an ongoing evacuation near the campus' engineering key as well as outages across the Tech and Texas Tech Health Sciences Center campuses following several fires and a power substation explosion Wednesday evening.
An explosion in a manhole at Texas Tech University sent neon colored substance into the air before explosions occired.
Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of fires and at least one explosion that led to smoke and flames pouring from manholes across the Texas Tech campus.
