Freshly back from a vacation to Uganda, Democratic New York City mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani visited with the family of slain NYPD officer Didarul Islam on Wednesday.

After stepping off a flight from Uganda at JFK airport Wednesday morning, Zohran Mamdani headed directly to the Bronx, where he met with the devastated family of slain NYPD officer Didarul Islam in their home,

In an interview with Gothamist, Mamdani said he learned about the missed connection from Islam’s brother-in-law, Kamrul Hasan, who is also a police officer. Mamdani said he called Hasan earlier this week to offer his condolences.
